Memorial Procession Saturday for Fallen Mercer County Soldier
A Mercer County soldier who died last weekend in Afghanistan will return home Saturday.

US Army Corporal Bryant "BJ" Luxmore suffered life-ending injuries from small arms enemy fire last Sunday. The New Windsor man is expected to be returned to his family at the Quad City International Airport Saturday morning around 11:40am.

From there, Illinois Patriot Guard Riders will lead a memorial procession to Central Park in Aledo. Senior Ride Captain Terry Hicks indicates in an e-mail riders will escort Luxmore's body eastbound on Indian Bluff Road to US-150. The procession will next head southbound on US-150 before traveling west on IL-17 into Aledo.

According to Hicks, a brief 'Hero's Welcome' will greet Corporal Luxmore at Central Park. The 25-year-old deceased soldier and his immediate family will then proceed privately to a funeral home in Viola.

Hicks says he encourages supporters to pay their respects by gathering along the procession route. He cautions against supporters actually placing themselves in the route.

Luxmore was stationed in Fort Stewart, Georgia before being deployed to Afghanistan.
