Open House for Addition to Local Private School
A local school is preparing to open the doors on its new location for the very first time.

An open house will be held Tuesday for the Galesburg Christian School's new Junior/Senior High School building at the former Immanuel United Methodist Church on Hawkinson Avenue.

Galesburg Christian purchased the school last month.

GCS Principal Joshua Griffith tells WGIL some parts of the former church will still be used in that respect.

"The sanctuary will be used kind of as an a assembly gathering," he said. "We'll have our chapel services there, graduations, any type of program that we need to have a large body there."

"We'll still keep it in use, and once a week it'll get use for sure because once a week we have chapel during school."

Griffith says he felt as far back as October when the church donated some items to Galesburg Christian School, that the site would be ideal as a school.

Remodeling, including the addition of a sign and new lockers, are part of the additions.

The open house and ribbon-cutting will be from 11am to 1pm Tuesday at 746 Hawkinson Avenue.
