Accused Car Jacker Pleads Guilty to Robbery
A 21-year-old Chicago man suspected of conspiring to rob and steal a Galesburg man's car last fall has pleaded guilty to robbery.

As part of a plea agreement Monday, Judge James Stewart dismissed four other charges filed against Michael Williams for the September incident. Court documents indicate Stewart amended an original charge of armed robbery-- a Class-X Felony-- in exchange for the plea.

Prosecutors allege Williams and four others tried taking the victim's vehicle at gunpoint in the 14-hundred-block of North West Street. Williams was allegedly waiting in a nearby car with Kionne Moore and Isaac Jeffries, while Rontonio Guterz and Robert Kimble approached the subject.

Guterz is accused of pistol-whipping the victim, causing the weapon to discharge. He and the remaining three have all pleaded not guilty. Kimble is awaiting a July eleventh Bench Trial. They've each been charged with Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking, Reckless Discharge of a firearm, Armed Robbery, and others.

Williams is scheduled to appear with Attorney Jamie Mitchell for a September 27th Sentencing Hearing. He faces three to seven years in prison and is parole-eligible.
