Bids about to be Sought on Master Facilities Plan Work
Thursday is the day contractors can start to bid for the work that can be done on another phase on the Galesburg School District's Master Facilities Plan.

The District-205 Board's Building Committee learned yesterday that a pre-bid meeting will be held Thursday for various aspects of the renovation work to be done at Steele Elementary School, now that months of meetings with teachers and community members have resulted in a plan for the renovations there.

District-205 Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Guy Cahill says that process should be quicker than the bidding process for renovations now underway at Lombard Middle School.

"We had a need to get some packages out early because of the long lead time on those items," Cahill said. "At Steele, we're looking to build a major addition onto the building. We want to get completed sooner than later so we want to try and get the construction started this fall."

The district plans to put up a pre-fabricated facility using steel, and that among other things, bids for structural steel will be done separately.

Bids will be due back to District-205 July 10th after the pre-bid meeting Thursday, and could be to the District-205 School Board July 16th.
