Police Investigate Possible Abduction Attempt
Authorities are investigating a suspicious incident Tuesday morning involving what could have been an attempted abduction.

According to a Galesburg Police report, a 31-year-old woman was walking nearing her home around 11:48am in the 900 block of East Brooks Street when an unknown vehicle pulled aside. The woman told police an "older" and "farmer-like" looking man leaned from inside the cab of a white ford or chevy truck and asked if she needed a ride.

The woman told the man no, and proceeded to walk on the south end of the street. Records show the driver pulled in front of the woman and exited the vehicle.

Police say he approached her and pleaded with her again to get in the truck-- saying "it's too hot out here to be walking." He allegedly grabbed the woman's arm. She pushed him away and kept walking. The man then got in the truck and reportedly drove away.

Police say the man was maybe 60-years-old, wearing a John Deere hat, black-framed glasses, and was balding with no facial hair. They’ve yet to positively identify him or the truck.

If you have any information regarding this incident, or a similar act at Lake Storey a week ago, please contact Galesburg Police or Galesburg-Area Crime-Stoppers.
