School Board and City Council both Meet Monday Night
Two local governmental bodies will be holding meetings Monday night, and both will be dealing with money.

The Galesburg School Board's monthly board meeting was moved to Monday, and the Galesburg City Council is holding a work session Monday evening.

The District-205 Board will consider several aspects of the budgets for the current and upcoming fiscal years.

As required, the board will adopt an amended budget for Fiscal Year 2012 that reflects what officials said last week were somewhat less revenues, but also less expenses than projected, including several hundred thousand dollars less in energy costs due to the mild winter.

A tentative 2013 budget will be considered Monday evening, though the final document won't be adopted for a couple of months.

The budget includes a significant deficit mostly due to declining state aid, but it's expected to be offset, after the board considers suspending its rules to allow for a deficit budget.

The Galesburg City Council will be considering the city's garbage services, including either continuing a contract with Waste Management, service levels and rates, and how to bid out a new contract if needed.

The Galesburg School Board meets at 6:45 for several public hearings, while the city council work session is at 5:30pm Monday.
