Galesburg Teen Arrested for Suspected Tobacco Store Burglary
A Galesburg teenager was arrested at a smoke shop early Monday morning for allegedly breaking into it and attempting to steal two hundred dollars in tobacco products.

Police say 18-year-old Michael Andrews Junior was hiding in a locked room of Main Street Tobacco and Games when they arrived around 1:30am. They say a passerby reported an unknown, black male climbing through the drive-through window only minutes before.

A police report indicates Andrews allegedly broke the glass on the store's west side, placed dozens of packaged wrapping papers and cigars into a shopping bag, and hid when authorities arrived. Andrews surrendered, and police say he had in his pockets a neoprene mask and two grams of suspected cannabis. Also in his possession were keys to the cash registers and soda machine.

Andrews was booked overnight at the Knox County Jail and is awaiting a bond hearing. Charges filed Monday against him include Class-Two Felony Burglary, and Possession of Cannabis.

Records show the shattered drive-through window is estimated to cost $600-dollars-- making Andrews potentially responsible for over $800-dollars.
