Police Searching for Lincoln Park Mailbox Bashers
Galesburg Police are investigating a string of damaged mailboxes in the Lincoln Park neighborhood from over the weekend.

Police reports indicate it was discovered during the eight o'clock morning hour Sunday that nine homes in total were victimized. The complaints came from residents living in the two-thousand and three-thousand blocks of Lincoln Park Drive.

In each instance, police say the victims claimed their mailboxes were in tact and undamaged Saturday. Authorities suspect the mailboxes were bashed during the overnight hours, likely between 12:30 and 1:00 am.

Some of the the residents told police they suspected the assailants were riding in a dark vehicle, perhaps a Ford truck. There are no other leads at this time.

Police ask if you have any information on Sunday's Lincoln Park mailbox 'smashings' to please contact them or the Galesburg-Area Crimestoppers hotline.

Attached to each suspected act is a charge for Criminal Damage to Property, under $300-dollars.
