YMCA Still Quiet on Status of Executive Director
Rumors continue to swirl on what the fate actually is for Linus VanderWyst as Executive Director of the Knox County YMCA.

As indicated in Tuesday's edition of the Galesburg Register Mail, VanderWsyt was terminated last week. But the Y's Executive Board isn't confirming Businessman Mark Kleine's opinion piece-- one where the former president of the Y's board stated he's troubled by the board's most recent decision.

During a phone call with WGIL Tuesday, Executive Board Chairperson C.L. Cummings again tightened his stance on not divulging any specifics to the Y's highest-ranking position. Cummings says it's an unfortunate process, and that more information will be shared at the appropriate time. He neither confirmed nor denied Cummings was indeed fired.

Cummings says he's regretful that much of the public already knows more than they should. He says the community needs to be assured everything at the local Y is "going well." He does say he appreciate's the community's concern.

According to multiple sources, Sarah Brown has taken over the Y's charge.

Attempts to contact VanderWyst have been unsuccessful. He's headed the Knox County facility the past eleven years.
