IDOT Wants to Make Holiday Travel Easier
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Driving can be tough on the July Fourth weekend but the Illinois Department of Transportation is trying to make it a bit easier.

IDOT says it is suspending some construction-related lane closures around the state starting Thursday at 3 p.m. until midnight on Sunday July 5.

But the department says that some projects will continue and there me even be road workers out on the job.

Regardless, IDOT is advising motorists to comply with the posted speed limit of 45 mph in work zones.

Anybody hitting the road is advised to check IDOT's traveler Web sites to get the latest information on construction process. The site is www.gettingaroundillinois.com.
