Random Drug Testing and Budget on District 205 Board Agenda
Just two weeks after the Galesburg School Board approved of plans being drawn up to administer random drug tests to all students involved in extra-curricular activities, the board will consider officially establishing the plan.

The District-205 board is back to its regular meeting date this month, and members Monday night will vote on the procedures for the administering of the random drug tests at Galesburg High School.

District officials said a month ago the program could cost as much as $6,000 to implement, and that either of two local companies would be picked to do the testing.

Students who test positive and found eligible would then have to go through the Insight drug treatment program offered by the school district and administered by Bridgeway.

Also on Monday night's agenda, new District-205 Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Guy Cahill will present tentative Fiscal Year 2010 budgets for the district, the Knox Warren Special Education District and the Galesburg-Area Vocational Center.

The Galesburg School Board meets at 7:00 at Lincoln School.
