Budget Not Great, But It's Done
State lawmakers may not like the budget they passed Wednesday night, but they are glad it's done.

The new budget passed easily in both the House and Senate, but lawmakers Democrat Senator John Sullivan (D-Rushville) say the options were "bad" and "worse." So he voted yes to keep government operating. voted yes in the easy win. So did Republican Representative Bill Black (R-Danville), who went on a tirade against the budget during the debate, yet turned around and voted "yes" in the end.

But not Democrat Representative Jack Franks (D-Chicago). He says borrowing and sweeping funds and other moves leave an unbalanced budget. He calls the state's situation as a "man-made disaster." Republican State Representative David Reis (R-Sainte Marie) also voted against the plan, saying he was uncomfortable with borrowing more than $2 billion, but couldn't stomach borrowing $3.5 billion.

Lawmakers are now gone until the fall veto session.
