Man Who Loaned Car To Driver Who Crashed It Into House Pleads Guilty
A Galesburg man is receiving jail time and has to pay court costs after he loaned a vehicle that wasn't his to another man who crashed it into a residence.

47-year old John Reeves pleaded guilty Wednesday to two Class A misdemeanor charges of Obstructing a Peace Officer and Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle after he loaned a car, which belonged to his sister, to 23-year old Brian Kelley of Galesburg, who crashed it into a house in the 800 block of South Cedar Street early Sunday morning. A judge sentenced Reeves to 10 days in jail.

Galesburg police reports say Reeves loaned the vehicle to Kelley for $40, but Reeves later described the incident to authorities as a "bad drug deal." Kelley faces a number of misdemeanor and petty traffic offenses, including Driving with a Suspended License and Failing to Notify about Damage. He is scheduled to appear in court for a first appearance August 12th.

The court dismissed a felony count of obstruction of justice against Reeves as part of a plea agreement. He originally faced a preliminary charge of Theft of Over $300 in connection with the incident.
