Options Still Up In The Air For New Galesburg Library
The Galesburg Library Board of Trustees still have not made a decision about the location of a proposed new library building, but at least know they have learned the feasibility of one specific site.

The library board met earlier this week with architect Mark Misselhorn of Apace Design out of Peoria, in an attempt to learn more more about two possible locations for the new library building - the former Econofoods building along east Main Street, and the former OT Johnson site on Main Street closer to the downtown area.

Misselhorn tells WGIL the former Econofoods location fits a lot of the boards recommendations for a new facility.

"We were asked to, for the Econofoods site, look at the property that's there without aquiring additional properties that Econofoods owns now, and we wanted to see if the building program can fit and be resonably arranged on that site very conseptually and our studies show that it can."

Misselhorn also did a partial study of the former OT Johnson Department store. He told the board that the floor plan that would be needed to fit regulations set forth by the board would make that floor plan intensive and that expansion wouldn't be too viable of an option on that site location.

Misselhorn told those gathered at the meeting that in his opinion, the Econofoods site is the most practical solution for the least amount of money.
