Two Killed in Fulton County Accident
POSTED 6:47 a-m 7/23/9 A head-on crash in Fulton County near the Peoria County line claimed the lives of two people Wednesday afternoon.

The Fulton County Sheriff's Department says the accident happened around 3:20 p-m on U-S Route 24 east of Banner.

Police say their preliminary investigation reveals a vehicle traveling south on Route 24 pulled out to pass a vehicle, and as it passed, it struck another vehicle that was traveling northbound on Route 24.

Authorities say the drivers of the two vehicles involved in the crash were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the northbound vehicle that was struck was taken by Lifeflight to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. That person's condition is unknown.

Police are withholding the names of those involved in the accident pending notification of family members. Authorities say they are still investigating.

Assisting at the scene were Fulton County Ambulance, the Copperas Creek Fire Department and the Timber Hollis Fire Department.
