Couple Arrested After Leading Police on Chase in Downtown Galesburg
Two Wataga residents were arrested by authorities after a brief chase in the downtown Galesburg area as workers were busy setting up for the Taste of Galesburg.

Police were notified Wednesday around 8 p-m that a vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed through barricades near Seminary and Simmons streets.

Galesburg police reports say officers observed the vehicle turning west onto Simmons from Seminary. Officers reportedly attempted to conduct a traffic stop when they say the vehicle drove through the parking lot across from the Kensington and through a temporary fence, hitting several barricades. The car traveled onto Main Street and finally stopped in the Galesburg Post Office parking lot.

Reports say an officer saw the driver, identified as 31-year old David English, allegedly jump into the passenger side of the car while 26-year old Bambi English got out. Officers ordered both the suspects out of the vehicle at gunpoint.

David English was arrested for driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and fleeing and eluding police. He was taken to the Knox County Jail, where police say he was unable to post bond.

Bambi English was cited for permitting an unauthorized person to drive a vehicle and released.
