Summer Storm Pounds The Area
UPDATED 9:01am 7/25/09 As most residents slept last night, mother nature was wide awake.

Strong thunderstorms rolled through Galesburg and Knox County last night with rain beginning around 10pm with a lightening show that seemingly went on for hours.

Knox County faced Severe Thunderstorm Watches and Warnings until very early this morning.

As of nine this morning Ameren IP says crews are working to restore power to only five customers in Knox County down from over a thousand customers earlier today.

Ameren's web site lists only two Galesburg customers, 292 Monmouth customers and Wataga has a majority of its town are without power.

Ameren says they have nearly 2800 outages statewide, down from almost 6,000 at 6am.
