FIRST ON WGIL: OSF Holy Family Names New CEO, Already On Job
POSTED 11:18am 7/29/09 The new president and CEO of an area hospital has already been on the job for a week and a half.

Officials in the OSF HealthCare system announced Wednesday that Patty Luker was officially named to the role as head of OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth as of July 20th.

Luker, OSF officials say in a prepared statement, is working along side outgoing CEO Don Brown, who is retiring effective this Friday.

Luker will report directly to Richard Kowalski -- the CEO of OSF Saint Mary Medical Center, who's also the OSF's Western Region President and CEO.

Luker previously spent five years as CEO of the city-owned Dr. John Warner Hospital in Clinton, Illinois, where, OSF says, she helped create an annual balance of a half-million dollars in the black. Luker worked before that with a hospital in Louisiana.

OSF Chairperson Sister Judith Ann says in the statement that Luker has "a proven track record of accomplishments" and has made what she calls "dramatic changes" in previous positions.

OSF Holy Family Medical Center recently announced plans to close its long-term care unit effective in September or October, pending approval from the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board.
