New Disability Parking Complaint Program is Working
The Illinois Secretary of State's new on-line complaint form targeting illegal handicap parking is getting a lot of reports. Secretary of State Jesse White says the month-old program, which offers a complaint form on the SOS Web site, has already brought in about 100 complaints.

White says the top benefits are anonymity, and speed. He says many people don't report potential abuse of handicap parking spaces because they don't want their names listed on a police complaint, so the on-line complaint form doesn’t ask for a name. The complaints are immediately funneled to the appropriate police department, even on nights and weekends, which White says allows officers the chance to get to the scene while the alleged abuser is still in the parking space.

White says you'll need the vehicle's license plate number, VIN, disability placard number, and make and model of the vehicle. Then CLICK HERE, find the photo of a handicap space sign at the bottom, and click on "complaint form." White suggests that you never confront the motorist.
