Two Knox County Board Members Submit Resignations
On the heels of the resignation of a 15-year veteran Knox County board member, the board has learned it will have to fill yet another seat soon.

County board chairman Greg Bacon says District 3 Democrat Dale Parsons is stepping down from his board seat, effective Friday. Bacon says Parsons cited a lack of time to devote to the board's activities. Parsons is currently employed as the interim director of the Stone Hayes Center For Independent Living.

District One Democrat C.B. 'Bernie' Damm also had an announcement for the board at Wednesday night's meeting.

"At this time tell everyone that I will be resigning as of this evening from the board due to professional considerations and moving from the county."

Damm had no other comment for the press after the meeting, but he did say that his move out of Knox County to Mercer County is work-related and he's "got to do what he has to do."

Bacon praised both Parsons and Damm for their work on the board and within their committees. Several other board members also wished the two men well.

The process of replacing the two Democratic board members is now in the hands of the Knox County Democratic Party, which will caucus and bring the board suggestions to replace Parsons and Damm. Bacon can then accept or decline the recommendations.

There is no word yet on when the caucus will take place or the possible names being considered for of both vacant seats.
