Henderson County Man Facing Charges Alleging Pot Production
A rural Oquawka man is behind bars following his arrest by authorities for allegedly growing marijuana plants on his property.

Henderson County Sheriff Mark Lumbeck says 53-year old Arthur Nickols was taken into custody around 4:00 Thursday afternoon by agents from the West Central Illinois Drug Task Force and sheriff's deputies. Nickols is facing preliminary felony charges of unlawful production and possession of between 50 and 200 cannabis plants.

Lumbeck says a tip led to Nickols' arrest. Authorities say he was allegedly growing the plants at his residence, prompting a search warrant to be executed there by agents from the drug task force, the Illinois State Police Mathamphetamine Response Team and Henderson County sheriff's deputies. Lumbeck says plants were found on the property.

Nickols is being held without bond in the Henderson County Jail awaiting an appearance in court.
