| Former Teacher of the Year Joins Goodwill Learning Center |
Cindy K. Arthur of Galesburg has joined the Goodwill Learning Center as a part-time computer instructor. She'll help provide computer training for individuals who have few skills or need more in-depth knowledge of various Microsoft programs to find employment in today’s technological world. Goodwill's classes are offered free of charge as part of the agency's mission. Arthur, who was named Teacher of the Year for Knox County and School District 217 in 2005, has been teaching young people and adults since 1999. For information on application dates and a schedule of future classes, contact the Goodwill Learning Center at 309-342-1055 or visit www.goodwillpeo.org.
Arthur received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Eastern Illinois University. She majored in business and minored in physical education. She is a business and computer instructor at Abingdon High School and Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. As an educator Arthur is also a lifelong learner who actively maintains her knowledge of new computer programs in addition to maintaining her teaching certificate.
Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois is a nonprofit organization and one of 184 member agencies of Goodwill Industries International. Revenues from the sale of donated goods at their nine stores support the agency’s free classes in job training and life skills. Courses are also offered in Peoria. Brochures are available at the Galesburg Goodwill Learning at 1931 Grand Avenue. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
