Rehab Unit Approved at County Nursing Home
The Knox County Nursing Home is one step closer to a new wing with some special facilities.

County board members Wednesday night approved a contract for reconstruction in one wing of the building.

Board member Lyle Johnson is chairman of the nursing home and landfill committee.

He tells WGIL the wing will provide special services as well as a little luxury not seen in the rest of the building.

It's for...much nicer rehabilitation center that we can do inpatient and outpatient," Johnson said. "And then, the bariatric (unit). We're going to have eight bariatric rooms. Then there will be several rooms that will have private baths. Right now, most of our nursing home is with kind-of dorimitory-style bathrooms."

The cost of the rehabilitation is just under $963,000, plus another $1,600 to add a large door bariatric beds will be able to fit through.
