Congressman Thinks Road Construction Signs Are a Waste
There have been plenty of those road signs you've seen the last couple years that tell you that the project in question is being paid for with federal economic stimulus funds. A Congressman who represents a portion of Knox County says he's none too thrilled with them.

18th District Congressman Aaron Schock says it doesn't matter that President Obama is of the opposing party. The Peoria Republican says having such signs in place touting such work is a privilege lawmakers don't get to have.

"It is illegal, for a House of Representatives member or a Senator, to secure money for their district, and use it for self-promotion," Schock said. "In other words, you can no longer have a bridge named after you or secure funding for something that's associated with your name. We would be investigated for violation of House and Senate rules."

Schock is using a website recently developed by House Republican Whip Eric Cantor called "YouCut" to tout the alleged wasteful government spending. He says the signs are simply going to be thrown away, and are being paid for with money that's essentially being borrowed.
