County Courthouse Options to Be Revealed Soon
Knox County has hired two companies to work in conjunction to develop possible future plans for the county courthouse.

Paul Johnson of Johnson Building Systems is working with Iowa-based architectural firm Durant and presented a report to the county building committee during their meeting Tuesday.

Johnson says the companies have been inspecting the courthouse extensively and learning how space and equipment is utilized.

He says with a little more inspection the group should have some proposals ready soon.

"I don't think it will be at the point of delivering the scenarios (yet), (we're at) maybe 80%," Johnson said. "As far as a date to deliver the three scenarios, we don't have that set yet. We don't anticipate it being too late in August. Hopefully mid-August."

Three options have been generally outlined, to move to another location, build a new courthouse, or rehab the current building.

The group is supposed to provide more detailed plans for each option.
