Getting Rid of the Junk in the Knox County Courthouse
The Knox County Board's Building Committee has the task of deciding the future of the county courthouse.

Options are to rehab the current building, build a different building, or move to another location.

Committee members Tuesday all agreed, however, the first task will be to decide what to do with the mountains of junk stored on each floor of the courthouse.

Board member Lowell Manhardt suggested making the county department heads sort through it.

"I was thinking something we could do, separate to all this, is have each department head identify everything they have, and what they don't is free game to go. We could start getting it cleared out right now," Manhardt said.

The committee decided to schedule a trash day. Knox County Board Chairman Greg Bacon said a dumpster would be brought to the courthouse to start getting rid of unused, chairs, tables, and computers, all of which are taking up storage space.

The first trash day is scheduled for Saturday, July 31st. Bacon said representatives from the county clerk's office and county treasurer's office would be required to attend and speak for anything that should not be thrown out.

Bacon says they will have similar trash days for the other departments in the future.
