18-Year Prison Sentence for Man Convicted in Shooting
A Knox County man faces 18 years in prison for a home invasion and shooting late last year.

18-year-old Demetrious Hardrick of Galesburg was sentenced Thursday in the Knox County Circuit Court by Judge Steven Mathers. Hardrick was convicted in late May for home invasion that led to a shooting incident in October of last year in Galesburg.

Police responded to a shots fired call last October 24th in the 500 block of West Second Street, and found then-20-year old Adam Pacheco to have been wounded in the chest and shoulder area.

Hardrick was also convicted of residential burglary, aggravated battery, aggravated unlawful restraint and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Hardick was sentenced to a total of 17 years for those offenses, but those will be served concurrently with the 18 year sentence.

State's Attorney John Pepmeyer says he is satisfied with the outcome and the sentencing.

He said it is important for criminals to know they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law in cases involving dangerous weapons.

Hardrick, however, had initially faced charges of Attempted First-Degree Murder among other less serious counts when he was arrested.

Two others also face charges in the case.
