New Grant Cycle Begins at Galesburg Community Foundation
The Galesburg Community Foundation is now accepting application for grants this year.

Each year the group awards thousands of dollars in grants to local non-profit organizations.

Executive Director Josh Gibb tells WGIL the foundation has set aside $250,000 for grants this year.

"The thing that always dictates how many we end up funding, or how many applications we get, also directly relates to the amount that organizations are asking for," Gibb said. "We don't put a limit on what an organization is able to ask for."

Last year the group awarded 41 grants out of 55 applications.

The applications are due by the first of September.

GCF is also kicking off a new certificate program this year to train non-profit leaders and board members, best governing practices.

That's an area Gibb says was obviously needed after they sponsored the "Ready, Set, Govern" program last year.
