Galesburg Plans National Night Out
There is still time to plan a neighborhood block party for national night out.

City Manager Dane Bragg says the city has plenty of funding and supplies to get an outing put together.

"We do still have neighborhood grants available for the block parties and as well we do include rental of the table and chairs for the party and also we provide barricades to block the street. So a good opportunity, National Night Out will be August 3rd, so we just under a couple weeks to go."

National night out was created by the National Association of Town Watch, a non-profit organization promoting community spirit and neighborhood crime prevention.

Picnics or outings can be scheduled for an evening other than August 3rd, but should be scheduled with city hall.
