2 Senate Elections Still Possible
Illinois voters will likely vote twice to for putting a person in the U.S. Senate seat and senator wants a shot in a special election.

A federal judge said Monday he'd have another hearing on what's shaping up to be two Senate elections on Nov. 2.

The matter is in court because a lawsuit was filed over Gov. Pat Quinn's failure to schedule a special election for the Senate seat U.S. Sen. Roland Burris was appointed to by then Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

A special election would pick someone to serve the remaining weeks of President Barack Obama's Senate term and another would pick a person to serve a full six-year term.

Burris' attorney says because his client didn't run in February, it is a better option to let party bosses pick the candidates for the special election instead of defaulting to primary winners. Under a temporary understanding, Burris would have to approach those party bosses and ask to be their nominee for the special election.
