Coach Chapman Left a Lasting Impression
The shock is still new for many who knew John Chapman.

The 41-year old died unexpectedly while running in the Bix race in Davenport over the weekend.

Chapman was the wrestling coach at Galesburg High School.

Athletic Director Ralf Henning tells WGIL, Chapman always kept in shape, which makes the loss so surprising.

Henning says Chapman was a great coach as well and left lasting impressions.

"One thing that I think is a testament to the coach, is the fact that our kids always wrestled hard," Henning said. "Our kids were classy, they always conducted themselves with class. Even if it was a parent's night...(the wrestlers) paid attention. They were good sports. They wrestled hard."

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday morning. Chapman is survived by his wife and two children.
