Around-the-Clock Booze Sales at Chicago's Airports
CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago City Council has approved the around-the-clock sale of booze at the city's two airports.

Under the ordinance, passed Wednesday without discussion or dissent, the city's Aviation Department can sell 12 licenses for liquor pushcarts at O'Hare International Airport and five at Midway International Airport.

The pushcart licenses will cost $1,000 per year, and only companies with current restaurant liquor licenses at the airports will be eligible.

Currently, restaurants at the airports are prohibited from selling liquor from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sundays.

The ordinance allows restaurants with liquor licenses to stay open and sell liquor around the clock.

City Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie Andolino says the pushcart licenses will be rotated if more restaurants express interest than the available licenses.
