Tried Together, Blagojevich Brothers Often Apart
CHICAGO (AP) -- In 2008, with investigators closing in, then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich felt isolated. So the Democrat turned to his big brother Robert for help.

Now, Robert Blagojevich and his lone sibling are co-defendants.

The elder brother is expected to take the stand at some point to try and convince jurors he didn't participate in alleged schemes to parlay his sibling's gubernatorial powers into personal gain.

He was a successful banker and Republican in Nashville. His attorney Michael Ettinger says Robert agreed to work for Rod because their mother beseeched them before she died to stay close.

These days, though, the two are rarely seen speaking. Ettinger confirms their relationship is strained but that Robert still loves his brother.
