Closed IL Track Means Amtrak Riders Take Buses
NORMAL, Ill. (AP) -- A section of Union Pacific track in north central Illinois has been closed for days, forcing Amtrak riders going between Chicago and St. Louis have to take buses for portions of the trip.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says a disruption on Union Pacific tracks on Tuesday closed a section of track between Dwight and Joliet. Magliari didn't detail why the track was shut down.

That means Amtrak riders are taking buses between the Bloomington area and Chicago. Also the Texas Eagle -- which runs between Chicago and Texas -- isn't stopping between Chicago and St. Louis for the time being.

Magliari anticipates service being restored by Friday.

Messages left Thursday for Union Pacific officials weren't immediately returned.
