Farmer Wills $1.5 million to Hospital
EL PASO, Ill. (AP) -- His executor says a Woodford County farmer who never married or had children has willed his entire estate, worth more than $1.5 million, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

Jerry Armstrong was found dead of natural causes in his farmhouse near El Paso in June 2008. He was 62, and had farmed and collected antique farm equipment almost his entire life.

His cousin, Ray Armstrong of Roanoke, was appointed his executor, and said this week that it took him nearly two years to catalog and liquidate Jerry Armstrong's estate, which contained many valuable antiques.

Ray Armstrong says he doesn't know exactly why Jerry decided to leave his entire estate to St. Jude, but he says his cousin always had strong feelings for the St. Jude children and talked very highly of the hospital founded by comedian Danny Thomas.
