Gas Prices Down Slightly
Illinois drivers are paying a little less for gasoline.

Four cents less, that how much the price fell from June to July, to a July statewide average of $2.79, according to the monthly survey by the Triple-A Chicago Motor Club.

Beth Mosher of Triple-A says the price of crude oil has been steadily declining since October.

"It's unusual to have prices so low this time of year. Just remember back to 2008 when prices were so, so high, so the fact their under three dollars is really great for consumers."

Mosher adds that the U. S. dollar is performing better as versus other currencies and that affects the price we pay for oil.

Locally, Galesburg area gas stations are currently selling unleaded for around $2.65 a gallon.
