Downtown Galesburg Parking Change Held Off
Galesburg City Council Members aren't sure about one hour parking in the city.

At Tuesday night's city council meeting, members voted to table a resolution to designate one hour parking for parts of Seminary Street.

Mayor Sal Garza and alderman agreed more research and study was needed before the council could proceed.

Seventh Ward alderman Mike Lummis suggested the council should examine past issues as a guide for future action.

"I would like to see the last time the parking issues were discussed," Lummis said. "I don't know how many years ago that's been, but I'd like to review those as we go forward on this, to see what has already transpired as far as discussions, if that's possible."

Garza agreed and was concerned the proposed one hour parking would solve problems for certain businesses on Seminary, but that those problems would simply migrate to other areas.
