Chicago's Shedd Aquarium Helping in Gulf Clean-Up
Among those helping care for sea animals caught up in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is a veterinary technician from Chicago's Shedd Aquarium. She's helping clean up sea turtles and checking their health.

There are over 100 sea turtles at the Audubon Aquatic Center in New Orleans affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The Shedd staffer is expected to stay for two weeks.

Ken Ramirez, Shedd vice president of animal collections, says the Shedd is also looking an option for turtle eggs buried in the sand along the Gulf Coast. He says we're in the middle of nesting season for the endangered sea turtles and over 25,000 eggs are along the coast.

The eggs could be removed and raised in captivity until the Gulf is cleaned up, or relocated to the East Coast.
