"NASCAR Day" in Illinois Honors Soldiers
NASCAR Day in Illinois is officially kicking off racing at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet. Gov. Pat Quinn signed the proclamation at a dinner at the governor's mansion that included not only NASCAR officials, but a couple dozen members of the military.

Car owners Richard Childress and Jack Rouch teased each other, saying they probably won't be so nice to each other when their cars are competing, but there were united in honoring service men and women. Both went on trips with Quinn to visit the military in Iraq, and say it was a life-changing experience. Because of that relationship, soldiers were invited to the proclamation announcement.
