Little-Known Presidential Candidate Stumps in Galesburg
He didn't stay long, and he doesn't have the name recognition of, say, a Mitt Romney, Barack Obama, or a Michelle Bachmann, but at least a candidate for President actually made a stop in Galesburg.

John Davis is a Republican from Colorado, who says he's almost a third of the way of making stops in all of the over three-thousand counties in the U.S. Wednesday, he stopped at Coney Island to meet with potential constituents, even though not many showed up.

So why does a man like Davis, who admits name recognition is going to be a big problem, run anyway?

"About a year and a half ago, God spoke to my heart to run for President," Davis said. "[I have] never been in politics in my life. I've been a self-employed home builder. I bought my first lot when I was a junior in high school, built my first house my first year out of high school, did my first housing development couple years after that. Never been to college. I've been to the school of hard knocks."

Davis says until he answered his calling, he never could have been able to speak in front of crowds of people, or even consider running for president. But he says the calling turned him into a public speaker.

Davis, who carries a red, white, and blue pipe wrench with him, is running on a platform that includes things like term limits, a balanced budget, less government, and tighter border security.
