DNA Tests Confirm Lula Cora Hood's Identity
FIRST REPORTED 3:30pm 7/15/11 The Knox County Sheriffs Department says it was indeed Lula Cora Hood who was found recently alive and well in Jacksonville, Florida.

Sheriffs Department officials have issued a statement saying that DNA testing done involving Hood and two of her biological daughters by a private lab proves with 99.99% certainty that it is indeed Hood.

Hood, who has gone by several other last names including Phillips and Smith, hadn't been seen in Knox County since 1970.

A body thought to be that of Hood was found in the old East Galesburg Brickyards in 1996, but DNA testing done last month indicates that it wasn't Hood at all.

Sheriffs officials, however, still don't know who that body was, since it wasn't Hood.

But as for the case of hood, Sheriffs investigators say it's now officially closed.

Hood is using a different last name now in Florida, but officials wouldn't say what that last name is.
