New Playground a Community Effort
Officials in Rio wanted to do something better for the area's children. So they did, and it only took them the better part of six hours.

The town recently purchased new playground equipment for their park, and Saturday, used several dozen volunteers to put it together and get it up, all through the supervision of the equipment's manufacturer.

Rio village trustee Ted Lee tells WGIL for him, it's more than just doing something good for the kids.

"It's a great way to meet folks," Lee said. "There are some fellows here that I see around town but really haven't had the chance to talk to much. It's a nice way to socialize and really build some community spirit and team effort here."

The new equipment replaces playground equipment that Lee describes as dilapidated.

Lee says he hopes that the village, now that one project has been completed, will be able to do more things to improve Rio.
