Knoxville Liquor Licenses Ready
The Knoxville City Council had no problem with the application for the city's new liquor licenses.

Aldermen Monday night voted to approve the applications -- essentially the final step in enacting the city's first liquor license law after voters approved of such in the April election.

Knoxville Mayor Pro Tem Bernadine Fleisher tells WGIL the application has so far met with virtually no opposition.

"The application had been reviewed by our attorney and then by the member of the council and it appears to be very concise and I think easily filled out for any resident that's interested. It's rather complete so I think that's necessary under the circumstances."

Fleisher says a liquor license application will cost $250.00. They'll be approved by the city's liquor commissioner, also the mayor, and then will be brought before the City Council for a final vote.

She says at least three local businesses have already inquired today about the new liquor licenses.
