Report: Gambling Cash Flows to Campaign Coffers
CHICAGO (AP) -- A published report says nearly three-quarters of Illinois politicians who voted on a major expansion of gambling received campaign contributions from gaming interests in the past 18 months.

The Chicago Tribune reported in its Sunday editions that lawmakers voting for the bill got about 60 percent more from the industry than those voting against it.

The industry gave about $812,000 to legislators, Gov. Pat Quinn and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel since the start of 2010.

Six gambling states ban such political contributions.

The Tribune reports the top donor was Arlington Park racetrack, its owners and related companies. They gave more than $250,000 since January 2010.

The proposed gambling expansion would allow slot machines at horse racetracks.

Quinn hasn't said what he'll do once he gets the gambling bill.
