Sheriff: 1957 Slaying Suspect en Route to Illinois
DeKALB, Ill. (AP)--Authorities say a man charged in the 1957 kidnapping and slaying of a 7-year-old Sycamore girl is en route to Illinois from Seattle to face charges.

DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott said Wednesday that 71-year-old Jack Daniel McCullough was released from King County Jail in Seattle, where he'd been held as fugitive from justice since his July 1 arrest in the death of Maria Ridulph (RIHD'-uhlf).

McCullough had waived his right to an extradition hearing.

Scott tells The (DeKalb) Daily Chronicle that McCullough will be in DeKalb County Wednesday afternoon. But he wouldn't discuss details, citing safety issues.

McCullough was named John Tessier and lived in Sycamore when Maria was kidnapped in December 1957 while playing outside. Although he matched the suspect's description, he had an alibi.
