Woman Charged in Infant's Death Enters Guilty Plea
GENEVA, Ill. (AP)--A Carpentersville woman who left an 8-month-old unattended in her home for more than five hours while she ran errands, resulting in the child's death, has pleaded guilty to reckless conduct.

Deanna Williams was initially charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangering the life of child in the April 2009 death of Sparsh Dhar.

The 46-year-old Williams on Thursday entered a blind plea, in which the defendant does not have a specific sentence agreed upon before admitting guilt. Kane County Judge Timothy Sheldon is scheduled to sentence Williams on Sept. 22.

Prosecutors say the baby was dropped off at Williams' home the morning of April 21, 2009. Williams left the child alone while taking her daughter to track practice and going shopping.

Authorities say the child died from hyperthermia.
