Dog Spots Suspected Burglars, Barks for Help
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Don't tell two suspected burglars that dogs are a man's best friend.

The (Springfield) State Journal-Register reports that a dog belonging to a resident of the Country Clubs Estates subdivision foiled an alleged attempt by two teenagers to burglarize his vehicle.

The resident says before going to bed late Thursday night he let his German shepherd out into his yard. When the dog started barking, the man looked out the window and saw two teens running across the street. He called police, and a short time later an officer spotted two teens, sweating profusely, near a convenience store. The resident identified the two, who were subsequently taken into custody.
