Italian Steakhouse Opens Above Owners' Pizzeria
The owners of The Cellar Pizzeria and Pub have accomplished what they set out to do about seven years ago.

Deb Drago and her husband Frank officially opened Fig's Italian Steakhouse Wednesday night-- above the pizzeria's current spot on North Prairie Street.

Drago characterizes the setting as not too fancy, but still formal enough to require jeans and a polo. As for the menu, she says steaks range from $36-dollars down to $18-dollars. The Boston native tells WGIL there's also some seafood to choose from.

"We wanted to introduce some fish into the Midwest, so we've done that with some of our fish and things on here (the menu)," Drago said. "And Chef Tony has a spin on it, he does it with a Mediterranean flair on it-- which is fabulous."

Drago says Chef Tony makes everything homemade and "with love," just like The Cellar below.

General Manager Michael Learned tells WGIL there's something for kids to eat too.

"There's a hamburger on the menu, so if you do have children we also have a kids' menu as well for chicken tenders, some pasta, things like that for kids," Learned said.

Fig's is open Tuesday through Saturday, 5 to 10pm. You can either walk-in or make a reservation.
