Galesburg Woman Arrested for Theft and Drugs at Lakeside
A 23-year-old Galesburg woman was arrested Sunday afternoon for having almost one hundred grams of suspected drugs at the Lakeside Recreation Pool.

Police say arrived at the concession area of the South Lake Storey Road pool around 3:42 pm. They say a lifeguard directed them to Nicholle Terpening and two other teens, whom the staff suspected had just stolen a beach bag from an unlocked locker.

A Galesburg Police report indicates all three gave their consent to a search, but Terpening first entered the locker room to use the bathroom. Minutes later, police say she emerged from a stall-- leaving behind an unmarked pill bottle in the toilet, and a small zip-lock bag of suspected cannabis in the toilet paper dispenser.

Terpening told police the pills were prescribed tramadol, and admitted to smoking the pot while driving to Lakeside. She denied stealing the beach bag-- however another sweep of the bathroom stall turned up the bag in the trash.

Records show a second search of Terpening's purse revealed a large amount of alleged cannabis in a blue sack-- weighing over ninety-one grams. A scale was also discovered in the stolen beach bag.Terpening was transported to the Knox County Jail and is awaiting a bond hearing.

She faces charges for Manufacturing and Delivery of Cannabis 30 to 500 grams, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Theft.
