Economic Developers Hire New Director
A local economic development entity has hired a new employee who will take on a top management rank at the agency.

The Galesburg Regional Economic Development Association says it has hired Leo Dion as director of the Knox County Development Corporation.

A press release indicates the graduate of Southern Illinois University and the University of Illinois should be getting a certificate in Community Development through Western Illinois University by the end of the year.

Dion isn't unfamiliar with the area. He most recently worked with the Henry County Economic Development Partnership through the Peace Corps program as well as the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs.

Among his other previous jobs, GREDA says Dion is a former intern with the Community Development Department in Galesburg.

Dion calls working for GREDA, quote, "an exciting prospect."

The Knox County Development Corporation arm of GREDA deals primarily with helping area businesses expand through financing and other means.

Dion starts August sixth and replaces Oliver Ferguson, who left to take on a job with the U of I.
